In the hangars of the former airport Berlin Tempelhof living about 1500 refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan. It should have become the largest emergency accommodation for refugees in Germany for about 8000 people.
The building which was reconstructed by the Nazis in the 1930’s was used as a labour camp and is also known for the airlift at the »Berlin Blockade« during the Cold War.
Some of the refugees are living there since months. This work shows how refugees, but also the government, try to handle this situation and arrange with these prevailing circumstances to make the old hangars a living space.
