HOME RUN

In 1992 the Majorcan »Club Deportivo De Beisbol Y Softbol Balear« was founded by and still is mainly consisting of imigrants. The players originate from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, Columbia and the Philippines. The club has two teams: the Tigres and the Cardenales. Due to the lack of other teams in the independent softball league, they have to play each other several times in a season.

After being refused from various locations, the teams were allowed to convert an old football field for their purpose. Without governmental help the club gets financed by the players and two small sponsors. Not everybody can afford the fee, so they can rebuild the place very slowly and have to share equipment.

But nevertheless on Sundays friends and families come together to barbecue, play games and have some drinks. Most of the players grew up with this sport in their homeland. So the community has become a little piece of home.
